Round Rotherham

It was fab!
Hannah and I got there and registered and chatted to a few people and then we were off.
The conditions were excellent - no ploughed fields which helped enormously and hardly any mud the whole route. I even caught the sun a little.
I chatted to John (?) who I had finished the Sidmouth Saunter with a few years ago and he told me all about what to expect at the UTMB.
After a couple of checkpoints I settled into a nice pace and I ran with Martin and Michael most of the rest of the way - I took on the role of map reader and mostly got it right although a couple of times we needed to double check and that cost us precious minutes.
Also - having run at a similar pace to Hannah most of the first half, I forgot my map at the 30 m check point and had to go back and I never caught her again.
We got to the last checkpoint at 9 hours 30 and wanted to finish inside 10 hours.
"No problem", we thought because it was only 3 miles to the finish.
However, despite knocking out some 8.5min miles (not easy after running 47 miles!) we counted down the seconds and were still not at the finish. 6 minutes over but never mind - a great day out.
Hannah had managed to break the 10 hours so well done to her. Now for a little rest!
